Once your Kickstarter campaign has ended, you will need to begin collecting information from your backers so that you can fulfill their orders. There are several good ways to do this. Here, we explain how to do it using fulfillment tools provided by Indiegogo, Kickstarter and Backerkit.
Indiegogo’s Fulfillment Tools
If you are using Indiegogo’s fulfillment tools, you can find contributor information in the Contributions tab in Indiegogo. Information provided on this tab includes the order number, date of the transaction, dollar amount contributed, perks claimed, the contributor’s email address and the contributor’s name and shipping address, if you will be shipping a physical product to them.
The Contributions tab also keeps track of all contributions and claimed perks, even those that you removed from your campaign. Indiegogo recommends using the Order States functionality in the Contributions tab to keep your perks and fulfillment organized by the stage of each contribution.
If you are using a spreadsheet to keep track of orders, you can export the information from the Contributions tab into a CSV file and edit as necessary. Unfortunately, if you need additional information from your backers once the campaign is over, you will need to contact each of them directly.
Kickstarter’s Fulfillment Tools
If you are sending out rewards, Kickstarter’s Backer Report provides all the information you will need to ship rewards to your campaign’s contributors. You can also create surveys to collect all the information you need to fulfill rewards, such as the shipping address and information on sizes and colors they prefer. When creating surveys, include a reminder to your backers to type “N/A” for any questions that do not apply to them.
BackerKit
If the thought of managing backers’ information manually in a spreadsheet leaves you feeling overwhelmed, you may want to use BackerKit to collect information about your backers. BackerKit makes it easy to collect information by providing you with resources like Pledge Manager and Custom Pledge Questions. You can create surveys for all crowdfunding platforms, including Kickstarter.
Features like automatic item counts and shipping address validation provide smarter, more useful data, so you do not have to do as much work.
